Exhibition is to unfold and fold simultaneously. Unfold occurs in the sense that the process of the artist’s work and mental complexity is being integrated and therefore is simplified and is brought to surface. Fold occurs in the surfaced phenomenon when the artist’s work evolves a massive reaction in the spectator’s realm. It accompanies a new layer, or layers of new meaning that are folded in the unknown way. Very much, the same sense, this work of architecture is executed. On the one hand, there is an intense attempt to bring all surface, corners, creases of the existing space to an experience (at this moment only the architects). On the other hand, it is intended to, in the literal sense, to fold this very complicated program, which is twice or three times more than the original gross floor area, forms the envelope of the existing structure.Museum is progressing more and more into a sophisticated factor, not to produce art, but to produce the value of art. It has become a commodity center of art. Meanwhile, more and more museum becomes privatized, engages only with art circle, media and integrates with the general public. Museum has also befitted its way to encircle and circle a specific queue of cut, or a type of artist. Art Furnace tries multiple ways to move away from this more or less inevitable trend of today’s museum. It enables multiple discipline of art work. Thermal fondant, and lustfully of even seninm. It engages a wide interest of general public, to make the flow of the space very free and transient – also with a spectrum of commercial and entertainment program that engages public 24 hours. Ultimately, a museum is a public realm that is generated by the energy of art. Conversely, a polemical exists between these two dynamics: the public realm becomes the appendix to art or art becomes a decor of the public realm. This project presents another proposition by manifesting the public realm which is consolidated by art. Art is neither a core, nor a decor; it is an invisible chemical that draws the public together and cultivate a sense of civility. Through this role of public engagement, art fulfills its ultimate commitment: the invisible core of a society.
